How to Spot Bad Roof Work
Having a roofer form Garland come in and fix your roof without actually knowing if this is something that they have done in the past can be bad, very bad. Not only is this bad for your roof, but also for you. You need to ensure that the person you hire is someone that actually knows what they are doing when they go up there. You want them to provide the best possible work – but in times of need – you may skip out and just hire the first person you see. This is understandable, but it is not going to look pretty in the end. One of the best ways to find out if the roofer you hired, or perhaps the person before you hired was not one fit for the job is to check out the roof. Give it a good assessment and then go from there to have the necessary repairs or even a full on replacement of the entire roof.
Spotting Roofing Problems
- Is there a lot of missing shingles or tiles on the roof? Were they not nailed down completely? This can be a large problem when the roofer was in a hurry or perhaps just didn’t know that they needed to be completely put on the roof.
- Are there large areas of worn down places where the roofer might have missed when it came to laying the new tiles or shingles down on the roof. Sometimes, they can cut corners and just leave some of the old ones there, leaving the roof to be different colors.
- Do you notice missing areas around the eaves, skylights or by the chimney of the home? These areas have to be fitted correctly and sometimes that just takes too much time, so it can be skipped and overlooked. These are the areas that you absolutely need to have covered, since they are the ones that are most prone to leaks and damages.
- Is there no flashing under the shingles on your roof? This is an insulator and a protector of the inside of the home. Without it, your roof is not protecting anything inside it and soon, you will find a lot of water damaged right inside the house.
Once you have gone through the problems, you should have a better idea of what needs to be done. This is because you should have spoken with the best roofer for the job and not someone that perhaps did not know what they are doing. Before you hire a walking roofer, someone you know or a friend of a friend, speak with a professional.
